I totally agree with ''Cheer Mom Of 4'' I am also a single mom with a special needs a teenager and a elderly mother I was told over and over that whirlpool was an outstanding brand after 1-1/2 years my washer has stopped working and is flashing F51. Do Not Buy This Washer!!

Submitted by cheer mom of 4 - 8/29/2017

I have model number WTW8200YW0. Do not purchase this! I am a single income parent of 4 and have always purchased whirlpool products. I loved the size of this washing machine and cant tell you how long I saved to purchase this. It lasted two years!!!! F51 code came on after 1 year!! I purchased the rotor position sensor over 100 dollars and had it put on! It did not correct the problem!!! I can not afford to replace this so now do not have a washing machine!!! I have read all the reviews and blogs and comments. I plan to take this to better business bureau or talk to someone about a class action suit. this is crazy that Whirlpool knows about the issue but has done nothing! Some people cannot just replace something this expensive! I purchased this because I thought Whirlpool was a dependable household name. Keep looking do not go whirlpool especially this washer!

Would NOT purchase this again!

Submitted by DRWells - 8/1/2017

I purchased this washer in April. I purchased it due to the size as I have a large family and thought a bigger capacity washer would be good. This washer does NOT get the clothes clean, the clothes constantly have a musty smell, even when I remove them from the washer right when the cycle ends and put the in the dryer. I would definitely NOT Purchase this particular item again, though I do own other Whirlpool appliances that we purchased for our new home at the same time that seem to be holding up.

Junk

Submitted by Carolyn - 1/24/2017

Three and a half years old. Tub seal worn causing bearings to wear down. 352.00 to replace whole tub! No way ever. Had to purchase new washer. Never again will I buy an HE washer. Does not save a dime or water as I have to use the longest cycles plus extra rinse time to get clothes clean. Whirlpool will not help me except give me 200.00 towards a new one. They are much more expensive online as you are required to buy at Whirlpool.com. I do not trust Whirlpool any longer and they also manufacture Maytag products.

Worst washer ever!

Submitted by jenny - 8/24/2016

Does not clean clothes. Shows error codes constantly. When the error codes come up, it just keeps filling up with water. Doesn't spin the clothes out, they are soaking wet after a cycle. This is a very expensive machine, and just awful. Buyers, do not buy this product. If you google it, there are thousands of complaints on this machine, and Whilrpool has done nothing about it. FYI, I see there are great reviews, and I agree, it was great for about 6 months. I loved it then, after a few months, it goes downhill, the sensors are all off, and it sounds like a jet plane in your house, and the clothes aren't clean.

Horrible

Submitted by Laura - 8/14/2016

I would not recommend this machine to anyone. Our clothes were hardly cleaned, the washer had an odor despite using affresh, it put little holes into our clothes. It lasted 4-5 years, ? bearings went bad and we couldn't find anyone to repair it. The repairman we called (2 different ones) said those take up too much time to repair for a problem that it may not even be and it wasn't worth their time! Horrible machine for all the money.

The worst

Submitted by WW - 8/12/2016

From lid lock code, to rusted out springs in the lid, to the dreaded F51 code, this washing machine is junk and Whirlpool, a company built on quality products, is now synonymous with cheap, overpriced and inferior products. I would advise everyone too spread the word. The issues with this washer are well documented. In fact, Whirlpool has even changed the manufacturer of the faulty part (control board) that causes the F51 code. Doesn't changing the manufacturer somehow admit to guilt? And yet, there's still no recall. Class action law suit anyone? Today is Day No. 1 in my campaign to call Whirlpool out.

Worst Machine I've Ever Owned!

Submitted by Fed Up! - 5/16/2016

I've had this machine for a few years and it does not clean well. All loads must be set on heavy duty soil & extra rinse which is about 71 minutes!! So much for energy saving. And forget about using fabric softner, it doesn't get rinsed in enough water so all dark clothes were streaked with softner. Had to go to fabric sheets which was OK but not really how I like to do my laundry. I really did try and make this work but I'm giving up! Speed Queen....here I come....20 gallons of water per load, who cares...At least my clothes will be clean!!

Fool me once, shame on you

Submitted by tweety - 2/7/2016

My 4-year old Whirlpool Cabrio, which was an expensive purchase, is going into the junk pile (along with a lot of other Cabrio's with the same issue) due to the bearings going bad. I have taken good care of this machine, used only HE detergents, followed the manufacturers's instruction on appropriate usage and for what? I guess it's doing me a favor since it has never been very good at cleaning as most loads. I have had to run most loads as heavily soiled with an extra rinse (so much for energy savings). Not happy and I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER one. Since manufacturer's know that they make inferior products (just look at their lack of warranty and how they will stall, stall, stall when it comes time to repair) I will either buy the cheapest model since I have to replace them very often, or I will go to a manufacturer that backs up their products (more money, of course). I will be looking into a Speed Queen - there must be a reason why they are utilized in laundromats. Go figure. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.

Worst Machine I have ever owned

Submitted by Annie C - 1/7/2016

Have owned this for over 2 years. Since day 1 it becomes unbalanced anytime I fill it more than halfway. I called several times in the beginning and was told to add less items and make sure they didn't go anywhere near the center of the machine. I did this. So now I can only wash half loads or it gets unbalanced. When I wash blankets and I mean only 1 at a time and not large ones, It gets unbalanced on the spin and sometimes takes up to 5 hours to complete the wash as I have to constantly go and take the blanket pout and remove it from the center only to have it go off balance less than a minute later. I even have rinsed out some loads of wash by hand in frustration. I wish I never got rid of my GE Profile and repaired it. At this point in time I would take a basic machine over this one any day of the week. And as I'm writing this the machine is going off balance. Garbage. And they never made good on it. Shame on Whirlpool

Thumbs Down

Submitted by BananaKay - 12/16/2015

I am really not happy with this washer. It doesn't have the center agitator. Everything gets twisted up. I have to stand and untwist everything, especially if it's pant legs or long sleeves. I cannot adjust the water level or the rinse tempurature. My husband is in drywall and requires a lot of water to rinse out the drywall mud. Rinse is always cold. You cannot choose. I live in a cold climate and our ground water is ICE cold. I have always washed my plastic shower curtains and reused them many times. There is not enough water to cover it and doesn't get it all clean. My shower curtain was in pieces. Imagine what it is doing to your clothes. Then it rinses in ICE cold water that makes the plastic brittle and cracks. It was a mess in my washer after attempting it. Too much auto decisions and leaves you without options for certain situations. I can put a lot of clothes in it, that is for sure. But they won't come out clean with the water saving feature. YUCK!

Bad Bearings after 3 years

Submitted by Bruce - 11/10/2015

The washing machine has been fine for 3 years but started groaning during it's spin cycle. It sounds like the bearings have gone bad. I have found many videos on the internet (and parts) to fix an repair the washer. It seems kind of strange that a 3 year washer has it's bearings failing. That would be a poor design

DO NOT BUY

Submitted by AngryDad - 8/17/2015

I would advise that Whirlpool recalls this product. This washer preformed well for the first two years and now, conveniently, as the warranty expires, it throws the dreaded F 51 code and stops working. Whirlpool knows this is a major problem and has even created a special $335 care package to cover the cost of the service call and repair. Their unwillingness to stand behind their product and do the right thing for their customers is the reason I will never buy another Whirlpool or subsidiary product again. So much for buying American.

Submitted by MARY - 8/10/2015

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS WASHER IT WILL BE BIG MISTAKE. IPURCHASES THIS WASHER IN 2013 AND IT WAS ONE OF THE BIGGEST MISTAKES I HAVE EVER MADE. IT TELLS YOU TO LOAD CLOTHES IN A CIRCLE TO BALANCE THE WASHER WELL THAT DOES NOT WORK. HAVE TO RUN EVERY TIME IT STARTS TO SPIN AS EVERYTHING IS ON ONE SIDE OF THE WASHER. I WISH A 1000 TIMES I HAD NOT PURCHASED THIS WASHER. ON TOP OF THAT IT HAS JUST ABOUT ALWAYS PUT WATER IN THE FLOOR. I COULD GO ON BUT WHO CARES NOT WHIRLPOOL. I AM 67 YEARS OLD AND IT IS JUST ABOUT IMPOSSIBLE TO GET A BLANKET TO SPIN IN THIS WASHER.

Costly Mistake

Submitted by Lisa M - 5/25/2015

I have had this machine for over a year and it has proven to be a costly mistake. I cannot believe the good reviews for this washing machine. It doesn't use enough water to get the clothes wet much less CLEAN!! I had to buy a stool to reach the clothes in the bottom of the machine because it is far too deep for shorter people. I just put a folded shirt in the washing machine and after 57 minutes, it came out still PERFECTLY folded! The clothes have a white residue on them even after an extra rinse. I was duped by the good reviews.......

Dreadful - should have bought a front-loader

Submitted by iggiesr4me - 9/21/2014

I bought this washer a few months ago & hate it. If you don't load it properly, it stops working because the load is unbalanced. You have to arrange the wash around the center to try & avoid this. While it's supposed to be heavy-duty, you can't efficiently wash blankets as the washer immediately becomes unbalanced & stops working. You then have reload the wet laundry to try to balance the drum and then repeatedly run the spin cycle to finish the load. This doesn't happen with a front-loader. I'm stuck with this awful washer until it dies - hopefully sooner than later so I can get a decent washing machine. I do NOT recommend this product at all.

Submitted by starchase44 - 7/21/2014

We bought this washer a month ago. We are amazed at how well it cleans, how quiet it runs, and how much less soap and water it uses. Clothes come out almost dry from the spin cycle and therefore take much less time in the dryer. The reviews were mixed at best on the Cabrio, but if you use it as directed it's great.

This is my first HE washer. It has been pretty easy to get used to. The control panel is user friendly. I guess I should find out more how HE technology actually works. The low water cleaning is a mystery to me. And it makes lots of "unusual" sounds that I am sure are normal for a HE machine. I'm alittle leery about using bleach. I have added it several times. One time I did get some bleach stains. It doesn't seem like the bleach would get diluted enough.
